Hi Jaodee - Thank you so much - your note just made my day :-)

My books actually ARE published in paperback and are in bookstores, but not every store has them on the shelf. You should be able to ask for it at the counter and have them order a book if they don't keep it in stock.
Unfortunately, most stores like to carry 20 copies of all the latest bestsellers by well-known authors, and it doesn't leave a lot of shelf space for little Indie Authors like me. I would love if my readers went into stores and suggested that they carry my books, even if they aren't ordering one at the time - "I can't believe you don't have the ALMOST HUMAN series by Melanie Nowak, you should carry them, they're great!" LOL.

I checked out the DEV video and can see why it reminds you of Allie ;-)
She started out as a sideline character, but then stood up, stole my attention from the characters I was focusing on and said "Write about me!!! I wanna have fun. I've got stuff to do - it'll be great, you'll see!" Sounds just like her, doesn't it?

I think (hope) you'll really like the next book. Allie has some pretty cool and intense scenes in it. D4D is coming along great - I know it has been a ridiculously long time, but I hope to have it out before summer. Thank you for having the patience and dedication to stay with me since the beginning and follow the story. I know it has been way too long in between books, but I'm so glad you're enjoying them.

Thank you for reading and helping to spread the venom addiction in Australia!

Just want to say Melanie that you are a fantastic writer. Keep doing what you do and hurry up with the next book!! :) sorry I just cannot wait to read it. Your work is absolutely the best and with each new book you publish you just get better and better! I have followed your books since you first started writing them and I love them. If only you could live forever and keep writing more :)
My favourite character is definately Allie :) you capture her amazing spirit through your words and it makes me really feel I know her. :) I know you like to add a soundtrack to your writing so I think that the song In The Dark by DEV really captures her. I don't know why but when I heard it it reminded me of Allie... weird huh? Hehe
But on a serious note you are amazing and would love if you could finally get published hardbacks for stores. I am ALWAYS keeping an eye out at the bookstores.
Your # 1 fan from Australia xx

I have been devastated MANY times over things haven't eventuated how I foreseen/hoped/wanted things to happen between Felicity and Cain!! I REALLY think Felicity would make a KICK ASS vamp like Allie!!
(but the baby now?)
I can imagine her being a super vamp like Allie, BUT a teacher/healer like Cain!!
with TWO different coloured eyes! really really think they are destined

Hi Chloe,

Sorry to hear you were devastated - but glad you are so invested in the series! I think half the fun of reading a new story is that you don't always know where things will go!

I hope you enjoy the story, and don't worry, I don't plan to have Felicity be a weak heroine - I hope for each of my ladies to be kick-ass in their own ways ;-)

Thanks for reading!

Hi Melanie. Amazing series, I love it. I was wondering why don't we ever see things from Ben's point of view? It'll be interesting if we do and it will make things fair as we get to see things from other characters' point of view

Hi Alex!
Thanks for writing - I'm glad you're enjoying the series so far!
Concerning writing from different perspectives, in the first trilogy, there was a certain amount of information I did not wish readers to have 'first hand' yet, so we do not get to hear from Ben, Alyson and Sindy's points of view. However, in the second trilogy the storyline becomes a bit more complex, and the perspectives of the other characters are needed to let us in on more of the story. In Born to Blood (ALMOST HUMAN - the Second Trilogy - Volume 2), the story dictated that we get to see from the point of view of Cain, Felicity, Allie, Mattie & Sindy. then in volume 3 of the 2nd trilogy, Descendant of Darkness we get to hear from Ben, as well as Cain, Felicity, Allie & Sindy. I hope you'll continue with the series - I'm sure you'll like hearing from the other characters. I loved being able to write from their perspectives!
Thanks for reading!

Hi Sarrah, Thea & Terri
I'm so sorry I didn't see this sooner! (I'm supposed to get an email when there is a new post, but it seems randomly glitchy and I haven't visited this page - my sincere apologies!)
I really hope that you have both enjoyed Descendant of Darkness. The story of these characters is something I have held within me for so long - the main story arc for all 4 trilogies/12 books having been planned years ago. Their journey is long and winding, but a very heartfelt and personal one for me - I love all of the characters dearly. Thank you so much for allowing me to share their journey with you! I hope that you all enjoy the twists and turns, and have fun getting lost in the story as much as I do!
Thank you for writing!

Love the Vampires!

I really enjoyed Fatal Infatuation and can't wait to continue with the next volume. I found the characters to have some flesh to them and liked the interaction between them. The dialogue is smart and at times I feel like I can hear the characters talking. I have to admit that Cain is my favorite. I love that he is a better vampire than he was a man, and can't wait to delve deeper into his character. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a good vampire story.

I Love This Series!!!

Don't be expecting a Twilight clone. These characters are more grown-up and the vampires can truly be scary. This series is getting even better as it goes along. Lost Reflections continues the love story between Felicity and Cain and their relationships with Felicity's human friends (I love Allie and Ben!). Even better - we get Cain's back story! This reads almost like a book within a book, and Cain's story is just so fascinating. I was spellbound!

This book is well-written, and the characters are wonderful. I really find myself missing them when I move on to another book. I highly recommend it.

A Fabulous Ending to an Amazing Trilogy!

As Felicity and Cain's relationship continues to grow they face difficult choices that will change their lives forever. Despite her love for Cain, can Felicity give up her future human life of marriage, children, and a career...say goodbye to her family to live alongside Cain in an undead existence for eternity? She loves him with everything she is, but is it enough? Cain is having his own internal moral battle regarding changing Felicity over. He wants nothing more than her by his side forever, but must debate the implications of taking her human life.

Of course there is more excitement with the rest of the gang: Ben, Sindy, Allie, and the return of Mattie as we get ready for the first book of the second trilogy Born to Blood. Evolving Ecstasy is an excellent read with an unbelievable ending that left me in tears!

The First Trilogy ~ 3-in-1 Edition

What an Amazing Trilogy!

I am a huge paranormal/fantasy/sci-fi book fan and one of my favorite things is to immerse myself in a book, truly enjoy the story and anxiously anticipate what happens next. When I can't put a book down until the wee hours of the morning or can't wait to read it again, then I know I've found an amazingly good book. This series allows you to delve into each character's life and get to know them intimately throughout each book. The storyline always peaked my interest and not once made me ask what just happened or why am I reading this book. I can't wait to read the second trilogy! I am anxiously awaiting the new turn of events for Felicity, Ben, Allie, and Cain.

Fantastic...

These characters are fascinating, their interaction flows easily. Melanie did a great job describing their experiences and feelings. Reading about their conflicts, their lost love, their tragedy and their quest for happiness made me feel pity, love and sadness, I call it the Trifecta effect. When an author can awake those feelings in a reader then the job has been done, the desired effect has been accomplished. Melanie's writing just flows, her stories are easy to read, and her style is fantastic. I look forward to reading Descendant of Darkness, the 2nd book of the 2nd Trilogy.

A Note About Reviews

I am an Independently Published Author. I don't have the financial backing to launch a big promotional advertising campaign. People hear about my books from readers!

If you enjoyed the books - please let others know! When bookstores come across my little series in a catalog of thousands, reviews help them to decide if the books should be purchased and stocked on their store shelves.

I greatly appreciate those who take the time to write a sincere review. If you enjoyed the books, a review posted on Amazon would be very helpful - thanks!!!
